Super Computer PRANAM-ISHAN at IIT Guwahati Inaugurated
Union Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar on 19 September 2016 inaugurated the super computer PARAM ISHAN at IIT Guwahati campus.
• Students and faculty members of IIT Guwahati are expected to derive huge benefit from the facility.
• It is the fastest and most powerful computer in North East, Eastern and Southern region.
• It has been jointly developed by IIT Guwahati and Centre for Development of Advanced Computing, C -DAC.
• PARAM ISHAN has the power of 250 Teraflops and 300 terabyte capacity and can be used in the application areas like computational chemistry, computational fluid dynamics, computational electromagnetic, civil engineering structures, nana-block self assemble, optimization and others.
• It can also be used for weather, climate modeling and seismic data processing.
केन्द्रीय मानव संसाधन विकास मंत्री प्रकाश जावड़ेकर ने 19 सितंबर 2016 को आईआईटी गुवाहाटी में सुपर कंप्यूटर परम ईशान का उद्घाटन किया.
• इस सुविधा से आईआईटी गुवाहाटी के छात्रों एवं अध्यापकों को काफी सहायता मिलने की उम्मीद है.
• यह उत्तर पूर्वी भारत एवं सुदूर दक्षिणी क्षेत्र में सबसे तेज़ चलने वाला सुपर कंप्यूटर है.
• इसे आईआईटी गुवाहाटी एवं सेंटर फॉर डेवलपमेंट ऑफ़ एडवांस्ड कंप्यूटिंग, सी-डैक द्वारा तैयार किया गया.
• परम ईशान 250 टेराफ्लॉप्स एवं 300 टेराबाइट से सुसज्जित है तथा इसे कम्प्यूटेशनल रसायन विज्ञान, कम्प्यूटेशनल तरल गतिकी, कम्प्यूटेशनल विद्युत, सिविल इंजीनियरिंग संरचनाओं, नाना-ब्लॉक सेल्फ अस्सेम्बल आदि में प्रयोग किया जा सकता है.
• इसे मौसम, जलवायु मॉडलिंग और भूकंपीय डाटा प्रोसेसिंग के लिए इस्तेमाल किया जा सकता है.
